Scratch Options

During the week, the class evaluated and made videos on Scratch. To use Scratch, you use the coding blocks from the different categories to make little animations. There are different catagories of blocks; Motion, Looks, sounds, Pen, Data, Events, Control, Sensing, Operators, and more blocks. There are 18 motion blocks, 19 looks, 13 sounds,  11 pen, variable data, 8 events, 11 control, and many sensing as well as operators. There are 647 sprites as well as costumes. There are many different sounds. There could be male or female sneezing, or Techno music in the background. There are also animal sounds and greetings. (over 100 sounds!) 96 backgrounds aswell

Editing Pictures :>

This week, we started to edit some pictures. I used a few helpful steps when I edited. These steps include:

  1. I thought of the picture I wanted in my head
  2. I found a picture that was close to what I was picturing.
  3. I saved that picture to my computer under an easy name
  4. I opened Photoshop on the PC
  5. I opened the picture on Photoshop
  6. I highlighted different areas to edit.
  7. To get into better detail I used the magnetic lasso to go around specific parts.
  8. I saved the image as a ".jpg" when I was done

Intro to HTML

During the class today, I logged on to W3schools.com and did the practice HTML maker. I was making the Thanksgiving webpage and I added the text in between the given lines. There was already an outline for me so it was extra easy. Then I saved it to my computer after I approved of the preview. :)

W3 Schools HTML Quiz

I took the HTML quiz from W3schools.com. After I took this, I got 15 out of 25 correct. I didn't know how to make a bulleted list or a Numbers list. I also wasn't sure of how to make a dropdown menue and textbox area. After I looked at my answers, I knew that I accidently switched answers to two problems.

20Q

My group played a game called 20Q today to test the computers intelligence. During this game we used the character Dory from Finding Nemo. The computer guessed this on the 17th question the first time. On the second, it guessed wrong 2 times before getting the answer. Then we did the music one with a flute. It guessed within the 20 q
uestions both times we attempted it.

Observations of blogs

I observed that everyone had all of their blog posts complete. I noticed that many peoples African-American cornrows were the same but how everyone dogs and baskets looked different. They were all unique.

Optional Drawing

Corn Rows

In this design, I started to use lines  more often. It was a lot easier just to do line by line. When I got to the triangle part, I started to use the lines to fill that in. I hardly used any single points, just when I messed up and had to replace a single point.

Dog rug

Dog rug made on Native American software

I used  lines to complete this design. I also used points at  times when there was only one point needed. I was challenged when I made mistakes by accidentally putting in the wrong coordinates,I would have to go back and replace them. I fixed this by using points to replace the incorrect points with the correct ones, while maintaining the the same shape.

Daily cola 'raises cancer risk' due to caramel coloring

The chemical process during the manufacture of the caramel coloring used in soft drinks such as cola produces a carcinogen that could be raising the risk of cancer to above the accepted threshold of one extra case in every 100,000 people consuming the drinks, suggests an analysis.

Matching laboratory tests conducted by Consumer Reports on 11 different soft drinks, first reported last year, with an analysis of average consumption by Americans, the researchers found that one can a day could be enough to expose them to potentially cancer-causing levels of the chemical known as 4-MEI (short for 4-methylimidazole).
The potential carcinogen is formed during the manufacture of the familiar caramel color that is added to many widely-consumed beverages.
A law in California requires that drinks must carry warning labels if they contain enough 4-MEI to pose an excesscancer risk of more than 1 case in every 100,000 exposed people (an exposure of 29 mcg of 4-MEI every day).
Testing on 110 samples of soda brands carried out by the Consumer Reports researchers, led by a team at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future in Baltimore, MD, found that drinks contained levels ranging from 9.5 mcg per liter (mcg/L) to 963 mcg/L.
Drinking A cola a day could cause you serious problems in the future.
